To most walkers, Scotland is best known for it's hill and mountain walks and justifiably so. However, many people don't appreciate that, as well as popular mountain areas such as the Trossachs, the Cairngorms and the Western Highlands, many other parts of Scotland offer excellent hillwalking and you can often have the hills to yourself! The Western Isles, Ardnamurchan, Argyll and the Scottish Borders are amongst these lesser known areas, as are the Galloway Hills - home to our classic mountain walk, the traverse of the Rhinns of Kells.
