 Newton Stewart Circular

 Distance: 11km (7 miles)

£ 5

 Ascent: 50m

Ref 1-3

Route Summary
For those arriving after lunch we have included what has become a popular circular walk in the countryside around Newton Stewart. A local guide will highlight the interesting aspects of the walk. The surrounding hills provide a superb backdrop and it is easy to see why the town is now aptly named "The Gateway to the Galloway Hills". The walk starts at the Sparling Bridge and goes in an anti-clockwise direction passing Minnigaff, Knockman Wood, River Cree, Blairmount, Barrhill Wood and back into the town on the new cycle way.

Distances are generally 7km (4 miles) to 10km (7 miles) with only minimal levels of ascent but may include some exposed sections. A number of these walks are led by historical or wildlife experts and hence are taken at a slower pace to allow for items of interest along the route to be discussed.
