 The Rhinns of Kells

Route Summary
A classic high level ridge walk traversing one of the most popular walking routes in south west Scotland. This is a challenging but extremely rewarding day on the hills with fine, rugged views.

 Merrick via the Buchan Ridge

Route Summary
An alternative and interesting ascent of southern Scotland's highest peak. The stunning views across Loch's Valley, Neldricken and Enoch are a taster of what's to follow from Merrick summit.

Route Summary
An additional walk which was hugely popular in '05. A fantastic traverse of the famous range of hills including the Merrick. This is one of the best walk routes in the south west.
Comment - Strenuous, with a long ridge giving wonderful views.
 

 

 The Minnigaff Hills

  

 Distance: 17km (11 miles)

Route Summary
A wonderful venture into the often forgotten Minnigaff Hills. Ascend Curlyee and enjoy the traverse of the Nick of Curlywee, Lamachan and Larg before returning to Loch Trool via Mulldonnoch.
Comment - Mainly rough hillside, some mild exposure
 

 

 Knowe to Loch Trool

 

 Distance: 19km (12 miles)

Route Summary
The Southern Upland Way celebrated 21 years in 2005 and this walk follows the section of the 212 mile long distance trail from Knowe Village to Bruce's Stone over looking Loch Trool.

Enjoy stunning views over Loch Trool and immerse yourself in the history of this beautiful corner of Galloway. Learn about Robert the Bruce, the Battle of 1307 & Scottish Independance. A family walk.

Route Summary
A pleasant waymarked walk starting from Stroan Bridge Visitor Centre. This is a family walk with an interpretation quiz included for the children. Great fun & full of interest for all.

 Newton Stewart Town Walk
