This is an easy access walk, suitable for everyone including families, wheelchair users and push chairs etc. It promises to be an interesting afternoon with fine views around the Cree Estuary and beyond. If you want company, during a leisurely afternoon strole, this is ideal.

Mary Curran was a local author who recalled the childhood of a farmworker's daughter in post -First World War Galloway in a beautifully evocative account called 'The Country Ones'. This walk follows the girl's walk to school in Newton Stewart along a country lane in the floodplain of the River Cree, returning via Blackcraig, Mary's 'Hill Village'.

The walk, which will be illustrated with extracts from the book, is on the level, along paved minor roads and cycle path and is ideal for wheelchairs.

There are no limits to the number of walkers on this walk but all children must be accompanied by an adult.
